‘Animal’ named best short in Turkey

Iranian short film ‘Animal’ has been awarded at the 8th edition of International Izmir Short Film Festival held in Turkey.

Iranian short film ‘Animal’ has been awarded at the 8th edition of International Izmir Short Film Festival held in Turkey.

Directed by Bahman and Bahram Ark,‌ ‘Animal’ won the Best Short Film Award at the 18th edition of the Turkish event.

The short film has competed with films from Macedonia, Belgium, Poland, Greece, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and France.

The 15-minute ‘Animal’ is about a man who wants to pass the border unlawfully; so he hunts a ram and decides to escape disguised as the animal.

‘Animal’ has participated in many international film festivals in various countries.

The Ark brothers’ film has previously won the second prize in the Cinéfondation category at the 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival in May.

The International Izmir Short Film Festival is the largest event of its kind in Turkey, and the first to award prizes to international short films.

Since its inauguration in 2000, it has become one of the country’s most prestigious film festivals, drawing many respected film figures from beyond Turkey’s borders.

The festival was held on November 7-12, 2017.
